Get to know the basics

As always with Windows there are many ways to perform popular tasks. Say you want to copy text;  you could navigate to the file menu and select copy and paste, highlight and right click, copy and paste, or you can press the Ctrl button and the letter C and Ctrl button and the letter P  to paste.

This is just one example of a keyboard shortcut. Shortcuts are combinations of two or more keys that perform a particular function when you press them together.

  1. Print:  Ctrl+P
  2. Copy a selected item: Ctrl+C
  3. Cut a selected item: Ctrl+X
  4. Paste a selected item: Ctrl+V
  5. Undo an action: Ctrl+Z
  6. Select everything: Ctrl+A
  7. Minimize the Window: Windows logo key  + Down Arrow
  8. Maximize the Window: Windows logo key + Up Arrow
  9. Switch between open windows: ALT + Tab
  10. Display the desktop: Windows logo key + D
  11. Multitask with multiple monitors: Ctrl + Windows logo key + Shift + Arrow
  12. Make Snap a snap: Windows logo key + Arrow
  13. To select Task Manager: Ctrl+Alt+Delete
  14. Open Task Manager Processes: Ctrl + Shift + Escape
  15. Lock your PC or switch users: Windows logo key + L
  16. Open a new instance of a program: Shift + Click a taskbar icon
  17. Toggle between documents: Ctrl + Click a taskbar icon
  18. Choose a presentation display mode: Windows logo key + P
  19. Zoom in, zoom out Windows logo: key + +/ Windows logo key + –
